Plus...
- its variations
- and 7 highly visual effects

The Clip Shift is a utility move, like a double lift. It can also be
used to palm a card, as a color change, a control, a pass and so much
more. It’s a move with infinite possibilities and on this DVD are some
of Chad’s favorite applications and tricks, such as:
Freefall
A protruding face-up selection slowly and visually sinks through the entire deck landing in the spectator’s awaiting hand. In a blink, the whole process is reversed, bringing the card instantly to the top.
Rum Jungle
Two selections are lost and a random card is removed and held face up. With a quick shake, it visually changes into the first selection. The spectator is then asked to shake the card, which changes into the second selection.
Tricycle
A single selection viewed by three spectators is buried into the pack. After shuffling, three random cards are removed, shown, and handed out to the three spectators who are asked to confirm they are not the selection. With a snap, each spectator is instructed to turn over his or her card, and each card is seen to have changed into the selection. Each card is different.
Clean Hook
After explaining sleight of hand will be used to find the spectator’s selection, a one-handed flourish swirls the selection from the center of the deck. The cards are taken behind the back with one hand. A second later, the hand is brought out, showing the selection’s three mates all protruding from the edges of the deck.
Criterion
The four Kings are produced in mid-air. Three selections are shuffled back into the pack. One at a time the Kings slowly and visually vanish only to re-appear with the three selections sandwiched between them.
Fourplay
A puzzling effect where a selected card shows character. Straight away a returned face-down selection appears face up and upon removal it turns face down, visually. The inversions continue, leading to a chaotic climax which must be seen to be disbelieved.
#@*! Off
A double color change with one hand that begins by showing the Aces buried throughout the pack. By waving the cards, the two blacks Aces instantly appear face up on top and bottom. This is followed by another magical appearance of the two reds Aces face up on top and bottom.

Chad goes into intense detail explaining the Clip Shift and then breakes each effect down to its core. Chad's expert instruction was shot with two cameras in high definition for a crystal clear learning experience. Includes a 24 page booklet explaining the Clip Shift in full detail and more.

Author: Duncan Friend WARNING: This dvd is not for the feint of heart. It requires a lot of practice and hand cramps and tears but if you think you can handle it, this dvd will give you an amazing 1 handed slight that you can use for so many different things.
The clip shift and its many applications are worth the price of the DVD. They are taught very well with different angles, speeds, and clear block views. You can learn it just by watching it and if that wasn't enough there is a booklet to refer to if you get stuck and you don't have a dvd player handy.
The magic is amazing but it is explained very quickly. It is more like a run-through than an explanation. There are a lot of moves that are skimmed over and expected of you which makes learning the tricks difficult but once you learn the clip shift you can apply your own controls to the tricks
This is a nice slight to take your magic in a direction you would not have thought of before (into 1 hand). I think it should be in ever magicians bag of tricks wether you use it or not.
Overall i give the DVD a 4 out of 5. The downfalls being its difficulty to learn and the quick explanations of magic. Hope this review helped.

Author: Shane (The Online Journal of the Art of Magic) SURFACED teaches you "The Clip Shift", a card sleight that is as visually shocking as it is difficult, a finger-flinger's workout that will freeze spectators' brains into concrete masses, and probably is as important a sleight to the card worker as the pass or the palm.
That's not hype: "The Clip Shift" is as powerful a utility card sleight as you could ever ask for. For those that are familiar with such things, "The Clip Shift" is a one-handed shift. It's a gorgeous version -- Nelson credits Irv Weiner as his inspiration -- that is economical in movement, very well covered, and downright clever. With "The Clip Shift", a card can vanish, a card can appear, a card can change into another card. "The Clip Shift" can also give you a powerful control, allowing you to move the card pretty much anywhere in the deck in a second and, as such, it can be used as a pass or a palm.
To give you an idea of some of things "The Clip Shift" can accomplish, Nelson has included seven routines using his sleight. While there are certainly a million-and-one things you can do with "The Clip Shift", these serve as ample brain-fodder and show the utility of the move.
As for that labor, I don't think I've ever seen a magic production where those involved with it so want the viewer to learn the work. Nelson goes into great detail with the instruction, covering not just "The Clip Shift" but variants of it and other bits and pieces that make it so powerful -- the ad calls this "expert instruction" but that's really an understatement. But Dan and Dave really went out of their way to make this something that, though daunting, can be learned. From the two-camera shoot covering the best angles to the high-def format, to actually using a clear lucite block so that every finger placement can be seen clearly, to including an instruction book just because, these guys have all gone out of their way to make this something you can do.
With a lot of practice, sure, but it can be done.
And for my money, it should be done. Folks, this is a beautiful piece of work that is as practical as it gets and as versatile as it gets when it comes to card work. I can't say enough about this one.
If you're into card work -- and I mean seriously into it -- and you're looking for something different and powerful, then invest the money and invest the time into this incredible card sleight. You'll be glad you did.

Author: Matthew Field (Magic Circular) I love seeing card magic with flair that is well executed, and Chad Nelson is an excellent worker. This DVD, from Dan and Dave Buck, features performances in club and party situations with a nicely produced accompanying booklet. as one has come to expect from the Buck twins, the production of the viseo is also first rate.
The highlight is Chad's Clip Shift, a one-handed move that can be used as a Colour Change which also has applications to Palming. There are seven tricks on the DVD including 'Tricycle', in which the same card is shown to five spectators who each swear they saw a different card; and 'Criterion', a combination of Roy Walton's 'Collectors' classic with the Inversion effect.
The Clip Shift is painstakingly explained, shown from several angles and also using a clear plastic block to make everything as clear as can be. This is a DVD for the advanced card magician, and is one of the best card magic DVDs released this year.
